Context: I got an NB hardtop with defroster, which I'm trying to fit on my 1990 NA. The NA had wiring from PO apparently, as I've got a switch and relay etc. This provides me with 2 wires: a blue one (female connector) and a brown one (male connector).
Undo the bolts a small amount so there is slight movement. Now make sure the gaskets are in place under the latches. Pop the hardtop onto the car and push it as far forward as it will go. Now tighten the bolts ensuring the little plastic hook is tight up to the bolt. Once both sides are tightened move inside the car.
